MissyThe visionary behind Bayfield Blooms, Missy has dreamed of farming since she was a young girl growing up in the city. Coming from a long line of dairy farmers, Missy's family would often take trips to visit relatives who lived on farms in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. She loved the beauty and tranquillity of the country and couldn't believe that farming was a job.
Missy grew up in Milwaukee and attended college at UW-Madison, where she majored in Art and Art Education. After college, she lived in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California where she worked in the education field and met her husband, Will. In 2013, she moved to the Bayfield, Wisconsin peninsula with Will, where she began managing a fruit orchard, the Bayfield Apple Company. Since she couldn't get enough of agriculture, in 2013, she also began a wholesale sales program for the local farmers cooperative, Bayfield Foods. In 2020, Missy created a delivery program for Bayfield Foods so local farmers could continue to thrive during the pandemic. In 2021, Missy began growing cut flowers on a small scale and selling them at the Ashland Farmers Market. In 2022, she was interested in expanding her operation and began to search for land in the Bayfield area. It was at this time that Missy was invited to grow flowers at Blue Vista Farm and Bayfield Blooms was born in the summer of 2022. Missy considers it a privilege and joy to grow flowers for all of you. She hopes they give you as much joy as she has growing them. |
WillEver the supportive husband, Will has always encouraged Missy to follow her agriculture dreams and continues to help Bayfield Blooms in any way possible. You can find Will at the Ashland Farmers Market on Saturdays during the summer or tilling and planting during the busy springtime at the farm, always making time in his own busy schedule to help. When Will isn't helping Missy on the farm or at the market, he is enjoying the outdoors as the head of his company, Trails Anonymous, which designs and builds hiking and mountain bike trails. His favorite flowers are strawflowers.
